Odisha, Jharkhand split points in drawn u-16 match

Host Odisha and Jharkhand gained one point match in their thee-day league Vijay Merchant Trophy East Zone Under-16 match, which ended in a draw at Ravenshaw University ground here today. In reply to a healthy total of 291 by Jharkhand, Odisha were 164 for nine when the match ended in draw. Singh the first inning of both the teams could not be completed, each team settled with one poin.

At one state Odisha were in deep trouble, losing seven wickets for 58 runs. But a valiant 64 by Sidharth Sankar Behera and his 77-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Pritam Jena helped them avoid defeat.

Earlier, Jharkhand rode on a half-century each by Aditya Narayan, Hemant Kumar and Roushan Kumar to compile a healthy of 291. For the home team, four bowlers picked up two wickets each.
